HERITAGE (HLF) PROJECTS


Since 2008, History People UK has managed many Heritage Lottery Funded projects, working with lead partners. These include the following :

‘Time for History’ with Guild Care, Worthing.  Research project outcomes included two books and a DVD. (2008 -2010) www.guildcare.org.uk

‘All Our Yesterdays’, based at West Sussex Record Office, Chichester. Project outcomes included the transcription of eighty oral history interviews and three books. (2009 – 2014)

‘South Downs Songs Project’, with the South Downs Society, Pulborough. Project outcomes included four CDs of local people singing traditional South Downs songs, having been taught the songs in a series of workshops. (2010 -2013) www.southdownssociety.org.uk

‘Worthing Village Heritage Project’, based at the Sidney Walter Centre, Worthing. Project outcomes include a DVD – Old Worthing Village, then and now. (2010 – 2014) www.oldworthingstreet.com

‘Worthing Community Play’ (Worthing Churches Community Heritage Project.  The play entitled, ‘The Just Cause – Victorian Romance and a Rollicking Good Riot’ to be performed in June 2014.  (2012 – present) www.worthingcommunityplay.org.uk

‘Worthing Heritage Trails’, run through the Worthing Heritage Alliance. Seven heritage trails produced so far – four more to be published in the summer. (2012 – present) http://www.worthingheritagetrails.org.uk

‘Sussex Road School – The Boys that went to War’. Project with Chesswood Middle School, involving pupils’ interviews being recorded by BBC Radio and broadcast on May 31st 2014. (2014 – ongoing)

‘Research Business History’ with Adur and Worthing Chamber of Commerce. Worthing College history students  are being trained in oral history interviewing techniques. (2014 – ongoing)
